NoteCamp is here to make your life easier!
We are proud to present the newly revamped, feature-filled NoteCamp, our portable note and text management app. Download it once, use it everywhere, and say goodbye to notes scattered all over the place.
Whether you are updating from an earlier version or trying NoteCamp for the first time, here is what is new!
Checklists That Actually Check
NoteCamp now has checklists with real checkboxes. Everything saves as you write, so there is no need to save by hand. Press Control+Shift+N to make one.
Write Faster
New notes now open in the editor the moment you create them, so you can start typing straight away. Press F5 in the editor to insert the current time and date.
NoteCamp also remembers when each note was created and last changed. Both show in the status bar when you select a note.
Cut, Copy, Paste, and Select
You can now cut, copy, and paste notes and directories with Control+X, Control+C, and Control+V, or from the right-click menu. Select several notes at once using Shift or Control with a click or the arrow keys.
NoteCamp uses the Windows clipboard, so you can paste notes straight into Explorer or another app as files. It works the other way too: files and folders copied in Explorer paste into NoteCamp as new notes and directories.
Pasting is careful with your data. If a directory already has an item with the same name, your copy gets a number added, like “Note (2)”.
Additionally, when you attempt to move notes and one of the names is already taken, nothing is moved, so your notes never become half here and half there
Bring Notes In, Take Notes Out
Your notes belong to you, so moving them around is easy.
- Export all your notes, or a single directory, as plain files in a folder or a zip (.ZIP). Notes become .txt files, and checklists become .md task lists that Obsidian, GitHub, and other Markdown apps show as checkboxes.
- Import a folder or zip of .txt, .md, and web page files. Web pages are turned into Markdown, and a page that NoteCamp exported comes back as the original note.
- Save a single note as text, Markdown, or a web page with Control+E, and print it with Control+P. A plain note saved as a web page can show its Markdown formatting instead of the raw text.
A Safety Net Under Every Note
If NoteCamp ever closes unexpectedly, your work is not lost. Anything you have not saved is kept as a draft every few seconds and offered back the next time you start NoteCamp.
You can also restore any automatic backup from Actions > Restore backup. Your current notes are backed up first, so a restore can always be undone. Backups are now made more reliably, and old ones are cleaned up automatically to save disk space.
Always Up to Date
NoteCamp now updates itself. It checks for a new version at startup and whenever you choose Actions > Check for updates, then downloads it, restarts, and reopens on the new version, along with new features, bug fixes and changes.
If a check fails, NoteCamp now tells you the reason instead of showing a general “Could not check for updates” message. The list of changes in each update also opens as plain text in its own window, which you can read easily.
