Welcome to the documentation for Spelunker Probe.

Keyboard Controls:

To walk, use the W, A, S, D keys. Each key moves in the corresponding directions
Press the Q and E keys to turn the camera left and right in 45 degrees
Hold down the left or right arrow keys to constantly turn the camera in the corresponding directions
Press F to check the camera's current facing in degrees
Press enter to take a picture of the current rocks that are in your field of view
Press P to hear the name of and a description of the rock you are directly looking at
Press tab to look at your collection
- Press enter on any of the rocks in your collection to hear the description of it
Press L to check your score and your level
Press escape to toggle pause

Game Controller Bindings:

To walk, use the d-pad. Each key moves in the corresponding directions. Additionally, you can use the left stick forward/backward
Use the left/right shoulders to turn the camera in 45 degrees in the corresponding directions
Move the right stick left/right to turn the camera constantly in the corresponding directions
Press the right stick inwards to hear the camera's facing in degrees
Press A or the right trigger to take a picture of the current rocks in your field of view
Press the left stick inwards to hear the name of and a description of the item you are looking at
Press select to look at your collection
- Press A on any of the rocks in your collection to hear the description of it
Press B to check your score and your level
Press escape to toggle pause

Mouse Controls:

To turn the camera, move the mouse left/right. The faster you move, the faster it turns
To take a picture of the current rocks in your field of view, left click

How to play:

Your goal is to ad as many rocks as you can to your collection. Collecting rocks will earn you points.

You are placed on the back of a space cave. This cave is made into several sections that run west to east. As such, you will generally have to go north by finding the gaps in the walls that separate these sections by listening for the openings in them. Each section, except the first section that you are put inside, contains several rocks that you need to find and take a picture of. Shooting a photo of each rock will add it to your collection, earning you points based on the accuracy of the photo. The higher your level, the more points you gain in general. However, you will lose more points for the less accurate pictures on higher levels, too!
You must be very careful while navigating around the rocks. If you move on top of any of them, they will shatter, costing you the opportunity to earn more points!

When you take a picture of a rock and send the data for analysis, you will receive the results, allowing you to learn about its description. From this point onwards, you can check the description of this kind of rock should you encounter them again in your session. When you cannot see any description for a rock, it means you don't have that type of rock in your collection.

You will encounter several hazards throughout your gameplay. One of them are the falling rocks. Every now and then, a large rock will fall from the sky to the ground, not particularly on top of you. However, some may end up exactly there and you should quickly avoid them by listening to the whizzing sound. If you are in the field of the whizzing sound, there is a high chance that if you don't move, the rock will crush you. However, if you are close to a wall, the rock can end up on top of the wall rather than hitting you. The higher your level, the faster these rocks drop.

The other hazards that you will face are the pits inside the gaps. These have an almost whistling sound. Avoiding them isn't very difficult. But if you are moving fast, you might not hear them properly, or you might not be able to stop in time to avoid falling inside them.

At the end of the most northern gap, there will always be a portal. Move inside the portal's field and you will level up to the next level!
