Our latest update to Marvel Realm introduced online interactions between players across the entire suite. We've already described many of the available features in this post and this one, so we won't go into too much detail here. Now that the real-time chatting feature has been rolled out to our Sonorous Plus subscribers, let's introduce this capability and how you can manage it!
What is Real-Time Chatting?
Live chatting or chatting in real time is one of the exciting activities while gaming, and it was first introduced to Marvel Realm through early access to Sonorous Pro subscribers. Now, this feature has been rolled out to Sonorous Plus subscribers as well. Let's recall the old public chat rooms! Many of us remember them, right? Each room was a specific place of its own where several people could participate in a conversation with one another, but people from one room couldn't read the rooms they weren't joined to. This is how real-time chatting works in Marvel Realm, but instead of rooms, we have games. Simply open one of the games that the suite provides, and start chatting with your friends!
You've have access to an expanding list of administration and management controls for your presence and privacy while chatting, so let's explain them:
The following features are all available through the Community Panel, accessible by pressing F5 on your keyboard.
- Community Features: Situated in the settings section, this completely disables all community interaction features, including but not limited to the real-time chat.
- Real-time chat: Again found under the settings page, this keeps the rest of the community interactions available, but disables real-time chatting. This means that you won't be able to hear others and will not be able to send messages.
- Mute/unmute: The "muted" option available in each user's page enables you to prevent them from sending you private messages (not yet available to Sonorous Plus subscribers) and keeps you from seeing their messages in public chat.
How to Chat?
This is easy! Simply press the slash key (/) to bring up the chat panel, start typing, then press Enter. The latest version of Marvel Realm has implemented a long list of controls in edit boxes, including selection, different ways of removing characters, different ways of moving the cursor, and much more, all of which you can explore in the suite's documentation.
Want to browse the messages you have sent or received? Simply select the "chats" buffer with the brackets, then use the period (.) and comma (,) keys to cycle forwards/backwards within the chats buffer.
